Ferrocene SDK
Ferrocene SDK is a comprehensive Rust distribution tailored for developers working on safety-critical, cybersecurity-sensitive and embedded systems. It extends Rust’s capabilities with tooling, long-term support and optional targets, providing everything you need to work with Rust effectively.
Tools included by default with the Ferrocene toolchain:
- Recent compiler for the Rust programming language (rustc)
- Build and package manager for Rust (cargo)
- Extensive IDE integration (VS Code, Vim, Emacs, Zed, JetBrains RustRover and more) and advanced code navigation, code completion and refactoring (rust‑analyzer)
- Code linter for detecting common Rust programming mistakes, including safety issues (clippy)
- Code checker for detecting undefined behavior in Rust code (miri)
- Code formatter to enforce a consistent and compliant coding style (rustfmt)
- Linker wrapper for embedded projects for zero-cost stack overflow protection (flip-link)

Qualified targets are provided with the highest level of assurance and are qualified for use in safety-critical contexts. The Ferrocene toolchain currently contains qualified targets for Linux, QNX, Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System, and bare metal on multiple architectures such as Arm and x86-64.

Ferrocene Certification
Ferrocene Certification helps to automate and streamline your Rust certification process. It provides the tools, expertise, documentation and workflows needed to meet safety-critical industry standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508 and IEC 62304. A certified subset of the core library is available for ISO 26262 (ASIL B) and IEC 61508 (SIL 2) and is expandable for other safety standards upon request.
